It is a short-term residence permit for tourism purposes, and this permit does not give the right to work in Turkey.
Requirements, documents and notes:
- Valid residence permit for a short period of up to one (1) year.
- You must be over eighteen (18) years to apply.
- Valid health insurance. This requirement is not required for foreigners under 18 or over 65 years of age.
- Property ownership documents or lease agreement in Turkey. Documents must be in Turkish and notarized.
Attention: The title deed must be up-to-date and must be renewed by the General Office of Document Registration and Cadastre (Tapo Office).
Attention: If you submit a lease agreement, your Turkish ID and ownership document must be provided with your lease.
- Turkish local bank statement proving financial independence and ability to support the applicant and other dependent family members (spouse and children under 18).
Attention: Economic independence is defined by the Turkish Immigration Service as proof of funding for the Turkish Minimum Wage Index (currently US $ 500 per month of residence).
- The residence permit application form is signed and completed by the applicant. If you have hired a lawyer to present your visa documents, your lawyer must have a limited power of attorney stamped by a notary public. The applicant for physical representation must be physically present at the notary public office (because a signature is required). If the current passport is not in Turkish, the applicant must translate the current passport by a sworn translator at the notary. After translating the passport into Turkish, the power of attorney can be processed and issued the same day or the next day.
- Original passport, photocopy and original notarized passport by a notary public.
Note 1: If your passport is in the Latin alphabet, a notarized Turkish translation is not required for your passport.
Note 2: If your passport does not have a date of birth, the applicant will need a verified ID. This document requires a notarized translation into Turkish.
- Four (4) biometric passport photos are required for each applicant. This photo must have a white background and have biometric conditions.
- When applying for a dependent spouse or child (under 18 years of age), provide sworn translations of the children’s birth certificate and marriage certificate into Turkish. .. You can be present in private or anyone with a power of attorney on your behalf can attend the appointment to complete the process. The main power of attorney must be provided by the Consulate and the State Department at the time of appointment to act on your behalf.
- Certificate of no criminal record.
If these documents are obtained from the Turkish authorities, they must be electronically signed / signed and stamped / approved. If obtained from foreign countries, they must be translated and have valid official translations of the notary public. If the applicant is a national of a country that is not a signatory to the Apostille Convention, the documents must be certified by the relevant government authorities (approved by the consulate and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the competent Turkish authorities).
How to update your tourist residence permit?
Before the expiration date of your current tourist residence permit, you must apply for a Turkish tourist visa extension within sixty (60) days. This can be done online at https://e-ikamet.goc.gov.tr.
Attention: Your application will not be accepted if you wish to renew your current tourist residence permit earlier than 60 (60) days before the expiration date.
Updated on 22.11.2019: From 01.01.2020, the application for a residence permit will not be accepted if the foreigners who have received a short-term residence permit (tourist residence) for a period of 1 year do not provide a new reason for justified reasons.
tip: Before applying online for a tourist visa (tourist stay) update, you must have a biometric photo on your computer to upload when applying online. Keep in mind that your biometric photo should not be more than six (6) months old.

- Click “I am applying for a residence permit extension” shown on the right.
Required documents:
- Your passport must be a notarized copy by a notary public in Turkey. If your passport is in any language other than Turkish, it must be translated by a sworn translator at the Turkish Notary Public.
- Four (4) biometric passport photos are required for each applicant. This photo must have a white background and have biometric conditions. Keep in mind that these photos should not be more than six (6) months old.
- The declaration of economic self-sufficiency that you declare in the application form. The Immigration Office can request a local Turkish banking statement that demonstrates economic independence and the ability to support the applicant and other dependent family members (spouse and children under the age of eighteen).
- Valid health insurance. This condition is not required for foreigners under the age of eighteen (18) or over sixty-five (65) years.
- Copy of your real estate ownership documents or rental agreement in Turkey. Documents must be translated into Turkish and notarized by the Turkish Notary.
- Certificate of no criminal record.
If these documents are obtained from Turkish authorities, they must be electronically / signed and stamped. If obtained from a foreign country, they must have a valid license and have official certified translations of the notary public. If the applicant is a national of a country that is not a signatory to the Apostille Convention, these documents must be certified by the relevant government authorities (approved by the consulate and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the competent Turkish authorities).
Need to know: Single parents and parents with children
If you are a single parent or recently divorced and have a child (ren) applying for a tourist visa extension, parental or parental consent is required, or both. If the Turkish authorities issue a parental consent form, it must be stamped and signed. In cases where the parents consent to a foreign country, the document must be submitted by a notary public and translated into Turkish.
